FamilySearch Indexing Update: Now Available in 3 Additional Languages

The following announcement was written by FamilySearch:

The FamilySearch indexing application is available in three new languages: Italian, Portuguese, and Russian. These languages are in addition to English, French, German, and Spanish. Cologne Archive Collapse is a Disaster for Historians

The collapse of the Historical Archive of Cologne as reported here yesterday buried more than a millenium's worth of documents under tons of rubble. Archivists and historians hope something can be salvaged, but the future of the city's past is grim.

Nacogdoches, Texas Cemetery-Interpretation Project Announced

Collaboration between the City of Nacogdoches and Stephen F. Austin State University has resulted in a $250,000 "Preserve America" grant from the National Park Service for cemetery interpretation. The grant was awarded to the City of Nacogdoches based on a proposal prepared by a team of city officials and SFA faculty members across various disciplines, including forestry, education, history and sociology. The city and university are contributing a matching share, for a total project...
